With the ability to earn up to 2% cash back—1% when a purchase is made and an additional 1% when the purchase is paid for, the Citi® Double Cash Card is a solid option for those who make their minimum payments on time.
There are no bonus categories, so all purchases qualify for the up-to-2%-cash-back rewards and with no cap on rewards, there’s no limit to the cash back that can be earned. Thus, overall, the Citi Double Cash Card’s rewards are fairly easy to earn as long as the bill is paid on time.

Earning Rewards
The Citi Double Cash Card offers a simple rewards system. At the end of each billing cycle, you will earn cash rewards equal to 1% of the dollar amount of the purchases posted to your Card Account during that billing cycle.
Furthermore, you will earn cash rewards equal to 1% of the dollar amount of any eligible payments you make on your Card Account as long as there is a balance in your Purchase Tracker.
However, you will only earn Cash Back on Payments for eligible payments up to the balance shown on your Card Account’s Purchase Tracker. Thus, The balance in your Card Account’s Purchase Tracker will be reduced by the amount of eligible payments you make. When the Purchase Tracker reaches $0, you won’t earn cash rewards on eligible payments until more purchases are made and added to the Purchase Tracker.
Redeeming Rewards
Cash-back rewards earned with the Citi Double Cash Card can be redeemed as a statement credit, check or direct deposit after $25 in reward credit has been earned. This means that to redeem rewards, a minimum of $2,500 in purchases must be made or a minimum of $1,250 in purchases must be made and paid for.
Cash-back rewards expire on this card if none are earned within 12 months or if the account is closed without the points first being redeemed.
